Molly Anne Photography Blog bio picture

Thanks for swinging by!

Hi there, and welcome to my blog. If you're looking for my most recent/up to date work you have come to the right place. Here, you will get a feel for my style and my approach to photography. The only thing that I like doing more than taking pictures is sharing the pictures that I take. OK, that's a lie, I really like to shop too, but that is a different story.

Before I decided to fulfill my dream of being a photographer I followed (and still do) TONS of blogs. When I look at a new blog the first things I look for is their "about me" section. I feel like it is important to get to know a photographer before you start to go through their images. You see more in an image by knowing the person who took it. So here is a tad bit about me.

Stuff I am known for:

* I love the word "Dream"

* I still sleep with a stuffed animal

* I have amazing ice cream scooping capabilities (I was an ice cream scooper for six years)

* I have a HUGE obsession with my cat

* I am ADD with my hair. I change the style at least three times a year

* I am overly obsessed with my family, but for good reason... THEY ARE AWESOME

* I talk REALLY fast

* I am emotionally challenged I.E. I cry a lot

* I make up words all the time but swear they are legit

* I cant stand when people don't like me so I try to please everyone

* "the baby voice"

* Finding killer deals at Marshalls CHING CHING

Pet Peeves:

* Loud Chewing

* Dirty windshields

* When you stop to let someone cross a crosswalk and the car behind you speeds up and goes around you nearly hitting the person (or does this only happen in Newton, MA)

* When my GPS gets me lost

* When people are late so I am so anal about being on time.

* Getting a run in your nylons five minutes after you put them on!!! Don't them make them bullet proof yet??

I hope you enjoy looking at my photos. I honestly love what I do and it is all because I decided to follow my dream and take a risk. Not to mention I had (and still do) amazing support from my family, Eric, friends, and my mentors. Thanks again for stopping by and thanks to my clients and my future clients for keeping my dreams alive!

Dream Big,

Molly

Caitlin & Graig: I DO

Its every brides worst nightmare. Especially when they have an outdoor wedding. RAIN. As weeks got closer to the wedding I chatted with Caitlin about her time line. She knew she wanted to do a “first look”, and I couldn’t have loved it anymore. I had never met Caitlin, but I knew from talking with her over email that she was a cool/relaxed bride. Anything goes with her and she had full trust. So when I woke up on the day of her wedding and it was pouring rain out I wasn’t sure if this would change her mood or attitude.  As Melissa and I drove down to the Cape we realized that the rain wasn’t going to stop. We stopped to buy some umbrellas. Good thinking, because as you will see they came in very handy. When we got there Caitlin was still at the hair dresser so we looked around and got to meet Graig. Probably one of the nicest people I have ever met. All he cared about was making sure we were all set and didn’t need anything. Didn’t once mention the rain outside. Caitlin arrives and it was the same exact thing. Not one ounce of concern. LOVE IT. I knew I still wanted to do the pictures outside but I was kind of scared to ask them what they thought. I finally got the guts to ask and Caitlin said “oh of course we will still do the pictures outside”. DONE! I used to fear rain, but after second shooting a wedding with Rachel, she taught me not to fear rain, but to embrace it and work with it :) So thats what we did. Once we got to the Beachmoor the rain started to slow down just a bit. And before we knew it the water works turned off long enough to still have an outdoor ceremony. The radar said that we had like five minutes to do family photos outside before the next storm came through so we jumped on that and were able to squeeze a few extras in. Here are a few of my favorite! Bit thanks to Melissa for helping me out once again.

Here we go…

Graig had Caitlin’s brother deliver a card to her that had a scratch ticket in it. I guess they love scratch tickets. Caitlin didn’t win, but she said “Oh man I didn’t win, but I guess I did because I am marrying my best friend”. SMILE!!

The girls sending off Caitlin to see Graig

hands down my favorite

We didn’t want the umbrellas in ALL the pictures so we took shelter under this dock.

LOVED HER FLOWERS

Here comes the bride

Caitlin and Graig met at a Yankees game. The minister swore that this was the first and last time that he would be sporting this hat. I hope he’s right

I absolutely LOVED Caitlins dress. BEYOND words

BFF’s

SOOOO amazingly good

I secretly LOVE this photo so much

And this is the final photo. Had a blast guys and I wish you the best

September 3, 2010 - 12:15 pm Lynne - LOVE THE BRIDES DRESS!

Kerry Ann & Jamie

Happy September everyone. I typically hate when summer comes to an end, but this summer has even been too hot for me. My friend Lynne posted a facebook message saying that summer was almost done and she was sad fall was coming. I started to think about things in fall that I should look forward to. Like comfy sweat pants. hoodies, knee high boots, vanilla chi, football parties, and sleeping with the windows open and waking up to the smell of fresh air. I really can talk myself into getting a little bit excited.

Talking about excited. When Eric took a liking to shooting families with me and engagement sessions with me I was pretty pumped. Then, when he told me that he wanted to maybe shoot some weddings with me I was BEYOND excited. I had met with Kerry Ann and Jamie a few months back and they told me that they were having a very low key backyard wedding. It wasn’t your typical wedding where the bride and groom didn’t see each other and the father walks his daughter down the isle. I figured that this would be the perfect breaking point for Eric. I knew he would get along really well with both Kerry and Jamie. They are so laid back and down to earth. When we got there they were helping set everything up and running around. When the guests arrived they were out in the yard greeting them. The wedding was perfect. Yes it as simple, but it was simple and sweet. There was no built up stress, it was all fun and games. Literally games. They had all sorts of lawn games set up for the kids AND adults to play. It was just a great time all around.  Here are a few shots that Eric and I walked away with at the end of the night.

I promised Eric that I would give him a shout out for each of his shots that I post, so here is one of ERICS

Husband and wife!

I loooove color, and there was so much color here.

These next two are Erics. I love how Jamie is looking at Kerry Ann in the first one, and I love the composition of the second

I think this is my favorite

Lately I have been having a ton of fun with the ring shots. So when I started looking for something fun to do Eric snagged the rings and found this…

And lastly a nice cake shot…

Baby Wesley

Huge shout out to Eileen and Angela right now. I have been doing so much editing lately that I couldn’t take my office room anymore. Walking through it every day was starting to make me nauseous. So on their lunch break, Eileen and Angela headed over to my place. Ang (Betty Crocker) was put in-charge of making guacamole and Eileen (Martha Stuart) was put in-charge of helping me move around my office space. Within an hour the room was moved around and we were eating guac. So, because of those two lovely ladies I am writing to you from my comfy cozy newly arranged office!!! Do you remember the feeling of excitement when you moved around your bedroom? Or was that just me? Well I loved it and when I got home tonight from a dinner I was so excited to come in and take another peak. It is the cleanest it has ever been and the most organized it has ever been. SO, thanks ladies.

Wesley… I was so excited to meet him. He is the son of a good college friend. Lea and Jeremiah were always Lea and Jeremiah. It was never just Lea, or never just Jeremiah. They were always perfect together since I met them. Freshman year of college Leah lived in the room next door to Ang and I. Over the year we made some pretty funny memories.  Jeremiah was also part of our freshman year. I remember one girls night Jeremiah came along with us to go “clubin” at the Complex in Providence. GAG ME NOW. Why I ever stepped foot in that place I will never know.  But, Jeremiah was there with us. The two of them never split ways and even back then I knew they would get married and have children. When I found out that they were married and had a little baby I was so excited. I am so happy for the two of you guys and I wish you all the happiness.

Such a little guy

GOODNIGHT

Dana & Jordan: He put a ring on it!!!

Semi freaking out. My cat, Bella, is acting wicked weird. She only acts weird like this for two reasons. One, bugs and two, MICE. I could handle a bug, but the idea of me going to bed in a few minutes and a mouse crawling around gives me the chills. Last time she acted like this I came home from work and found a dead mouse in her food dish. What did I do… I went to the kid that lives below Eric and I and asked him to pick it up for me. If you thought I was going to wait until Eric got home you’re crazy. Man, and I was having such an awesome night. I met with two amazing/potential couples. Then the cat had to ruin it. Thanks Bella

Anyway… If you have been following me from the start, you may recognize these two characters. Dana and Jordan. Back when I was looking for people to photograph for practice these two volunteered. They are friends of a friend and were so awesome back then to offer to help out. Well, a few months ago Jordan proposed to Dana so it was time for the real deal. This time Dana came with props, props and more props. Oh… and cupcakes. She also came with a helper. My good pal Jill. Jill has been a huge help to me over the year. She has found models for me, and also volunteered her modeling services. So I was pumped to have her come along. She was our BG (balloon girl). Dana brought different sets of balloons to work with, cupcakes, confetti, bubble gum, and all sorts of goodies. The only thing we were missing was the sun. When we first started to shoot it was all clouds, but as we went on patches of sky started to break through. We even managed to get a decent sunset. So without further ado… Here are the pics. (did I make that word up?)

I love Dana in this picture. She laughs a ton so this is so her…

Check out the bling!!!!!

These cupcakes were amazing. Thankfully Dana and Jordan dont like red velvet. So that meant more for Jill and I. DIET STARTS TOMORROW.  Jill, if you thought you were getting out of this post without a mug shot you were wrong. You are just lucky it wasn’t the “other” one.

OK… back to business

L-O-V-E

WOO HOOO

Could it be… a favorite???

yes… more balloons.

I dont think that Dana could have worked it any better in these

HOW FUN?

And this one was just for fun…

Melissa & Bill: HITCHED

Thank you god for part time. I honestly cant even think about what I would do if I was working full time still. This week I have been able to crank some serious work out, and after this post I still have four more to come. My blog is going to be mega busy!! Yesterday I was actually able to do something very different. I was contacted and asked to photograph an press conference with Governor Patrick, and Barney Frank. Totally different from weddings, but it was kind of cool. The conference was near my house so I was able to go to my parents and hang out with my mom… BONUS. Today, it was back to editing, I was down to business… and eating. I just cant stop. I need an intervention or something. When I edit I just sit at my desk and pick, and if I don’t have food here I cant concentrate. Its really becoming an issue.

Moving on. Meet Melissa and Bill. They got married a few weeks back in Hull, Ma at the Clarion. Again, it was a perfect day for a wedding. Not too hot/humid, and a slight breeze. If you are going to have a beach wedding this was the weather you wanted. When I arrived I saw Bill coming in from a day at the beach. Totally relaxed. How do guys do it? I got up to Melissa’s room, and she was really relaxed too. My brides are always so calm. I don’t get it. I’m going to be a ball of emotion when I get married. I can already see it, and it isn’t good. Melissa was surrounded with her friends and family who were so fun to be around. Just so happens one of my BFF’s was in the wedding so that made it even more fun for me!! Here are my favorites from the amazing day!!

As always… A HUGE HUGE thank you to Melissa DeSchamp for being there to help out!!!

This garter has a ton of meaning behind it, and it is one of the most special things. Bill’s mother is no longer with us, and this was made of of pieces of her dress. It was gorgeous.

There is something so special about the father seeing his daughter all dressed up for the first time. I have seen it a ton of times, but this one was different. It really choked me up.

Some emotional on-lookers

Some finishing touches

A much deserved toast

And a stunning bride

I love what is going on in this photo. The exchange between Bill and Melissa’s father is so special, but then you see Melissa in the back that adds even more emotion

The gals…

The clan

Melissa’s sister Sarah had a hard time getting it out, but she did it!!!

Cheers

Here is one of my best friends in the entire world, and her other half. They will be getting married at the exact place in less then a year. SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

So, my friend/mentor, Bob, has one of the most amazing things in the world… A SMILE BOOTH. It is honestly one of the most amazing additions to a wedding that anyone could ever have. He brought it to Bill and Melissa’s wedding and of course I couldn’t resist using it. While Eileen and I were in it Bob grabbed my camera and snapped this. I mean when else could I ever be on my own blog?? THANKS BOB. If you want to see ALL the photos from the smilebooth that were taken at Bill and Melissa’s wedding click HERE. So… if you need entertainment for ANY event def. contact Bob for the Smilebooth.

Hope you all enjoyed!!! XOXO

Emily: Senior Portraits

Meet Emily! Emily is Eric’s little cousin. Well, Kind of. I first met Emily in Kentucky at a family wedding. She was “Erics little cousin”. Not so much anymore. Now she is entering her senior year of high school and has become quite the lady. I was so happy when she asked if I would do her senior pictures. We had so much fun!!! She was so Americas Next Top Model. LOVE IT!!! Emily, I had a blast and I cant wait to see what this year holds for you!!! XO

LOVE

This one too

I don’t know exactly what these trees/bushes are called, but I know that I love them

Strike a pose Em!

I love how the light hit Emily in these pic’s.

And the final two…

Emily hope you like!!!

August 29, 2010 - 4:51 pm mary Jo - great photos -- and they are cat - o- nine tails!

Nicky & Bill: Married

Happy Tuesday everyone!! For those of you who are not at work, I hope that you are at home in sweat pants curled up under the covers watching chick flicks (yes… even if you are a guy). I cant believe that it hasn’t rained all summer, and the last 3 days have done nothing but rain. I actually don’t mind it, but yesterday as I was driving to meet with a bride and groom for next year it really hit me that fall is right around the corner. I actually started to get sad thinking about putting my sandals away and taking the beach chairs (that I have used like twice) out of the back of my car.

Anyway, Nicky and Bill got married on one of those amazingly perfect days a few weekends back. They couldn’t have asked for anything better. I was so pleased for them because I just adore these two. The first time I met with them I felt like we had been friend for years. Nicky’s giggle is so contagious and it just fills the room. I wish I could be surrounded by people like her 24/7. The world would be a better place!! I met up with Nicky the week before the wedding to get a tour of the grounds. I happened to be in the area for a different wedding so it worked out perfect. Her father owns a golf course which is connected to their yard so we drove around in the golf cart. I have to tell you I had one of those “need to get away moments”. I was in the golf cart and I felt this huge draft. I was like “what the heck is that coming from”. So I put my hand on my “back end” and realized that my dress was stuck on top of the handle bar. So… we had been driving around with my but hanging out. EEEK! Oh well, we are all right now!!

Nicky and Bill you guys are the greatest and I wish you both the happiest life together!!! Also… A huge thank you to Aubrey Greene for helping me out with this one!!

Bill… you’re so sweet!

I LOVE the emotion in the next three pictures

Have you ever had one of those moments where you get a case of the giggles in the worst possible places? My cousin Sam and I have that happen way too often, but this was a pretty bad case and they actually made me catch them.

Gorgeous Nicky

I loved this little garden patch. I actually loved their entire yard.

Some little details!

Im really trying to work the ring shots lately

Right around sunset we had the limo golf cart (yes I said limo golf cart) over to the course where Nicky has tons of memories.

This picture kills me. So growing up one of my best friends in the world was Kat. We pretty much lived at each others houses. Her parents happened to be at this wedding, and I hadn’t seen them in years. Here is Cliff trying to hide from the camera. This is so him. Probably one of the funniest people!

xo

August 26, 2010 - 9:18 am Eileen - Love the pics! They look so happy! I can't believe he sent flowers..I secretly want to forward this to Jonathan haha

August 24, 2010 - 5:16 pm Nicky - Molly, These pictures are amazing! Bill and I just looked at them together and are so happy that you were able to capture such special moments from our day. Thank you so very much!

August 24, 2010 - 2:51 pm Deborah Zoe - Molly, the images of the bride under the archway is STUNNING! fantastic:)!

August 24, 2010 - 1:39 pm Samantha - Molly, these photos are beautiful. We always talk about how emotional we will be during your wedding, and this post made me think that we should go in the laughing direction rather than the crying direction. We'll have to work on that.

Erika & Steve: Engaged

Its such a bad habit and I am famous for it. I will find a song that I like and listen to it over and over and over until Eric is about to rip his hair out. At work Angela had to put on headphones because she cant take it anymore. No joke, I have been listening to the same song for a good hour. Yes… on repeat. I love repeat! Best invention EVER!

The other week I got together with Erika and Steve. Erika has been one of my best friends for about 9 years now. We met Freshman year in college and made some incredible memories (red sippie cups what?). I was sitting here thinking about all of the stuff that we have done and the funny things that have happened to us and I got totally side tracked because I was just laughing to myself. It continued after college because we lived together for a bit and ever worked together. She is the type of person that you could call at 3AM telling her you needed something and she would be right there. So, when she told me she met a guy and there was something different about him I was beyond happy for her. Our lives have been pretty busy lately so I don’t know Steve all that well. I haven’t spent as much time with him as I should considering he is marrying one of my best friends. When we got together for our little session I was so happy to spend some QT with him. He is such a nice guy and BEYOND in love with Erika. The way he looks at her, talks to her, and holds her. Its the real deal. We had so much fun. I knew that these two didn’t want your typical backdrop, so I went to my pal Rachel to see where she has taken her amazing graffiti photos. And what do you know… it was right down the street from Steve and Erika. PERFECTION! I am beyond happy for the two of you and I cant wait for your wedding. Especially because I am a guest… not a photographer WOO HOO!!!!!

they were able to contain the laughter for this one

LOVE

I don’t know what it is about this picture, but I really really like it and I am not sure exactly what it is

My personal favorite… again not sure why

So much fun you guys. Not anyone can rock this location, but you guys so did. And about me listening to the same song over and over. I have played it twice since I started this post!

August 19, 2010 - 5:04 pm Frannie, Erikas Mom - Dear Molly, The pictures were sooooo beautiful. This is your calling, take the photography to the highest limits. Sarah & Danny: Married!!

I have been so excited for this post. Before the post I was so excited for this wedding. I met with Sarah and Danny awhile back and from the start of our meeting I knew their wedding was going to be amazing. Sarah’s family owns a farm in Berkley, MA. She grew up here at the farm and it was beyond a special place for her. And that my friends is where the wedding was going to take place. Not only were these two an amazing couple, but they had an amazing location. I went to the farm a few weeks before the wedding to look around to see what we had to work with. After finally finding the place (Danny gave me the wrong address and when he called to say “I don’t know the address here so I think I gave you the wrong one) I was in heaven. This wasn’t your typical farm. It was a HUGE HUGE farm with tractors rows and rows of corn, a sunflower field, a few barns, a pond, a pine tree grove, and a huge piece of land for a tent. All of which Sarah wanted to be incorporated into the photos. LOVE IT. The thing that made this wedding perfect, was that they worked with me so close. Every email exchanged was between the three of us. We were all on the same page and Danny had a TON of input. We had a time line and an awesome shot list. I cant get over how organized these two were. It was amazing. And, it 100% shows in the photos! As excited I was for this wedding I was sad that night because I knew it was over and I wasn’t going to have wicked funny emails from Danny and Sarah and we wouldn’t be chatting as much. And I am just as sad to post this because now I know its 100% over. Huuuuge thanks to Melissa DeSchamp for helping me out and being so amazing to work with!!!

Sarah and Danny, I cant begin to tell you how happy I was to be a part of your day and the friendship that was formed is the best payment ever. I legit love you two! Hope you like!! “Shots for shots”???

I absolutely loved the detailing on this dress. Well, I loved the entire dress to be honest

When I first got to Sarah the day of the wedding she came running out with an adorable bright pink dress on and the biggest smile. She looked awesome already. I said to her “Sarah I thought you were waiting for me to get your makeup done for pictures” and her response was “oh yeah I am, I’m going to go last, I don’t have any makeup on yet”. GRRR It honestly looked like she was in full makeup.

Just about all of the flowers in the bouquets came from the farm. One of the bridesmaids mother-in-law put them together.

LOVED these girls

Off we go

They wrote their own vows that made everyone laugh and cry. Including me… WEIRD

ta daaaa

After the ceremony Sarah and Danny jumped in this row boat to have a few minutes alond

This is my favorite photo ever. I wish I had a tractor for every wedding. Oh John Deer… you complete me!

I really wanted to just drive this tractor home with me to use as a prop whenever I wanted to

Could the light have been any better that day? I think not

There was this huge rolling pin that Sarah really wanted to use in a photo. She used to play on it growing up so it was a must!

Corn field time!

I cant handle this one…. I LOOOOOVE it more than I love chocolate.

this is a close second.

Ring shot on a corn husk with perfect lighting behind it. I WANT TO LIVE HERE

I adore the way Danny is looking at Sarah. Everyone in this photo is all eyes on Sarah. That is Dannys sister Sarah behind him. She used to babysit me when I was little. I remember playing cook with her. GOOD TIMES!

Sarah had two father dances so here is the second one!

Here is where the party went down!

Danny with his neice

When I left the wedding and said goodbye Sarah filled up with tears as she thanked me. She said something that I will never forget and it is something that I will reply in my head over and over when I need a boost. She said “Molly I cant thank you enough you were the best decision I made”. And that is why I love her and that is why I drove home with the biggest smile on my face! Thank you both again!!!

Lets end it on a good note!

August 17, 2010 - 8:06 am Eileen - These are so unique! I love the rowboat idea-so cute!

August 16, 2010 - 7:38 am Lisa Gilbert - That ring shot totally rocked my world today.

August 15, 2010 - 5:49 pm Kate Farren - Molly! these are TRULY amazing!!!

August 15, 2010 - 7:01 am rachel - AMAZING, MOL!! Such a good job. What a fun couple, you were perfect for them!!

The Little Things

Its been a crazy year. A year filled with stress, unknown’s, fear and change. All things that I am horrible with. All things that I avoid, which is why I held off chasing my dream. That is until Eric came along. Eric is my best friend, my rock, and my right hand. He is what makes stress, unknown’s and fear manageable. He is there to catch me when I take risks and they don’t work out. He is there to give me pep talks when I feel like I am no good. He believes in me. When I am up until 1AM editing he will come in at midnight just to check-in to see if I need anything. On the nights that I go to bed so frustrated because things aren’t going smoothly he assures me that he will help me to make it work. And just like that everything is better. On nights that I am sitting at my computer until my eyes are so heavy that I can’t keep them open, when I have so much on my mind and I could just crack, all I have to do is crawl into bed and put my arm around Eric and it all goes away. It’s the little things. The dinners that he makes for me while I am on shoots that are either in the stove when I get home or in the fridge waiting for me. It’s the hours that he sits on the computers going through my receipts and putting them into excel spread sheets, and it’s the “I love yous” that have helped make this year work. I wouldn’t be where I am today living my dream if it wasn’t for him. He makes it happen. Today we have been together for four years and its been the best four years! I have grown, become a better person and learned so much because of him. He makes me laugh until I cry, and he makes me smile when I feel like I just don’t have it in me.  Happy anniversary Eric!!!
