For these two beauty is not only on the outside it is on the inside. I think part of the reason for that is because they don’t see their outer beauty as we do. That is my favorite type of person.

I picked up Joey and Susan for this little session and on the way over we chatted about what they loved most about photos. Susan, from Denmark was very adamant that she loved candid photos that captured people in their true being. They both agreed that posed photos were not them. PERFECT!! These are also my favorite types of photos but it can be hard to actually accomplish. Not for these two. I put them in pretty light and walked away and told them to interact with each other NOT with me. DONE. That was so easy for them to do. I think it shows their love for one and other. Here and there I would have one of them look up at me but to be honest everything you are about to see was all them. I pretty much just followed them around. YES I asked Joey to lift Susan into a tree, but once she was in there she did her own thing. My job was VERY easy this day.

I am so happy to call Joey and Susan my friends. I have known Joey for about ten years, as he is my best friends brother. He is one of the most comforting people I know so to be able to spend the afternoon with him and Susan was a pleasure. I am so happy that I have a new friend in Susan. While I was editing their photos I was listening to my new favorite song “lego house” on repeat and I may have shed a tear. I just love these two with all my heart and I seriously feel blessed that I got to do a little shoot for them. I hope that they along with their friends and family treasure these photos as much as I do. They really show the true Joey and Susan. They are honest, real, and I love seeing their personalities shine through!

Lauren and Nick…

Lauren and Nick are the type of people that you just want to be around. They make you happy, they make you smile and they make you feel good about yourself. I think their super energetic personalities are contagious. I always knew that these two were special but the day of their wedding when I walked into Laurens house I knew just how special they were. I had a text from Nick saying he hoped that we were all having fun and then there was Lauren. Good old Lauren was running around making sure that everyone was happy and had what they needed. That morning as the girls got ready I learned so much about Lauren and I learned that we were the same person (poor Nick and Eric). The truth is I think we are pretty awesome. Am I right? Nick and Eric are pretty lucky guys. By the look on Nicks face when Lauren was walking down the aisle he totally knows it. He was SO happy. You could see him biting his lip trying to hold back tears. And with the guys that he had on his side I think that was a good call. His groomsmen were hilarious. They were a ton of fun. I have a few great outtakes from them! And the girls… FORGET IT. I wanted to cry when I left them. I think I told them all that I loved them 100 times and I totally  meant it. We had such a great time. I even had a chance to dance with everyone. At one point someone came up to me and started to hump me (no joke) and one of the guests came up to me and said “don’t worry he is gay… and vaccinated). Sooooooo yeah talk about an amazing group of guests! I was laughing the entire ride home thinking about it. It was such a perfect wedding with a perfect backdrop. I love Elm Bank so much!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAND A FEW OUTTAKES! LOVE YOU GUYS

Who is loving my new blog? I AM! I usually fear/hate change, but I am really loving this change. My designer totally killed it as always. I woke up this morning SO excited to blog so that I could test it out. Luckily for Alyse and Tom it was their turn to be blogged! For those of you who follow me of FACEBOOK remember last week I posted “perfect day for an engagement session”? OK… so I leave my house and it was sunny and 72. Im wearing a cute maxi skirt and a tank top because I was super hot. THANK GOD I brought a sweater just in case. By the time I got into the city it was 56 and rainy. I KID YOU NOT. I couldn’t believe my eyes. We totally sucked it up and shot anyway, but REALLY? We did end up getting some decent light but HOLY COW WAS I FREEZING. These two had jackets and I felt so horrible every time I would ask them to peal them off. AAH! Anyway they were troopers and I think dispite the shake up in weather we were able to get some pretty adorable stuff! ENJOY

We were supposed to meet the Tuesday after the Marathon disaster in South Boston. As I was getting my stuff together I noticed that the Court House was being evacuated and there were choppers flying everyone. I didnt have the best feeling about shooting down the street from this chaos. After chatting with Lauren she asked about meeting at the Endicott Estate. This place is GORGEOUS. I have driven by it before but once I got there I was so excited to shoot here. The light is a photographers dream and the landscape is just as dreamy. The people at the Endicott Estate were very understanding as I think you may need permission to shoot there, but with such last minute decisions this was not happening. Lauren and Nick totally made my day. I had been sitting in front of the TV ALL day watching the depressing news. So walking around, chatting, and laughing really brought me out of my rut. Lauren and Nick are a dream team in front of the camera. They def pulled out the “we are awkward card” but after shooting for three seconds I realized they were naturals. I honestly am dying with excitement for Saturday. Take a peak at what I get to work with!!!

Jess and Marc… thanks for calming a crazy girl down and being awesome. I cant wait for your wedding. Oh… and dont worry we got ADT so there will not be any more panicking about being broken into at the wedding

Marathon Monday has always been one of my absolute favorite days in Boston. I would like to say that it still will be, but it’s hard for me to say that it won’t be dampened by the events that happened this year. I want to say that my heart goes out to the victims, their families, their friends,  ALL  responders, the runners/walkers/wheelchairs, and anyone who was affected in any way at all. It is one of those times in my life where I feel like there is nothing big enough that I can do to help anyone. But, my heart is with all of these people and I will never forget the acts of kindness and bravery that took place last week. Events like this really mess with me. I think it’s because I am so naive and sensitive. I just can’t wrap my head around why things like this happen and I start to obsess over it trying to make sense of it. But the fact is there is nothing that can make sense of it. It was an act of hate and of terror. Good people can never make sense of that. What I do know is that I have never loved the city of Boston more in my life. I always say that I could never move away from here and after last week that just clarifies that for me. In a time where I was so sad and so confused I was able to find comfort in all of Boston’s government, law enforcement  and our president. Everyone put politics aside and came together as one to heal. I felt so much love from people that I don’t even know and never will know.

This weekend was a weekend of healing for me. I watched suspect #2 get captured while surrounded by friends, on Saturday I celebrated Eric’s grandmothers 82nd birthday by having our first cookout with family. On Sunday I had all my 2013 brides over for a jewelry party/brunch. It was at that brunch where I took a step back and looked at all my girls mingling around with people they didn’t even know. Everyone had a smile on and they were laughing. Right then I realized that the world was okay. And that things were going to slowly go back to “normal”. Last night as the sun started to get golden and Eric mowed the lawn I laid down on the deck and took deep breaths of the fresh cut grass. I took it all in. I felt so lucky. I felt so lucky to be a Bostonian. I felt so lucky to be safe and sound with my family and friends. And I felt peace. For the first time since Monday I felt peace. Looking up at the sky with the trees starting to bloom I smiled and promised myself that I will do my best to pause everyday and take in the scent, the sound and the peace because we are so lucky to have it. Whether it’s the sun twinkling behind the trees, the smell of rain on warm pavement, or the feeling of wind blowing through your hair. Just pause and be thankful that you are here to take it in and be grateful for every second of your life! I am going to end this post with a quote that I am in love with and try to remind yourself of it.

Christine and Brendan. I absolutely adore these two so much. I also adore their families. I met the Shields about three or four years ago when I did some family shoots for them. Two years ago I shot Anne and Chris’s wedding and then in March I shot these two. Whenever I am with the Shields it’s a guaranteed good time. Then throw in the Sullivan’s and it’s an even better time. One thing I am sad about is leaving before the sausage truck came. I would have been allllll over that. Mercedes is a friend from HS. I hadn’t seen her in YEARS and it was so good to catch up. I met her husband awhile back and hes probably one of the nicest, funniest, most easy going people I have ever met. What guy do you know would say yes to his wife when she asked if he was willing to do a shoot sunrise shoot? I was super excited that I got to grab drinks with them and do this shoot. We also had the best breakfast ever together. Jeremy also did a photo shoot of the three of us. I can honestly say that I laughed so hard at some of the photos that I nearly peed my pants. I am not even joking. Man we had such a great time. Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot of these two love birds. MISS YOU TWO!!
